Master of Clinical Medicine


General information

Course code: 2776 Offered by Monash's International Health and Development Unit, Faculty of Medicine Full-fee-paying course: $21,000 (Australian residents); $27,000 (international students)

Aims

This multidisciplinary degree equips its candidates to work competently and efficiently in today's rapidly changing health environment. It provides broad expertise in the areas of clinical administration, evaluation and units that will soundly enhance the pursuit of career aspirations, within areas such as surgery, emergency medicine or between already established disciplines such as paediatrics and health promotion. This course adds a new career dimension to the clinical skills already possessed by its participants by either providing the opportunity for obtaining expertise in a chosen area of specialty such as surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, emergency medicine, paediatrics, and internal medicine, or the opportunity for undertaking retraining to enable improved medical practice management and assessment, or the opportunity for broadening the knowledge already possessed in an inter-disciplinary area of expertise.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be medical practitioners registered by a medical board within the Commonwealth, or within their own country, with appropriate experience. Specific entry criteria may apply for some units.

A number of units (such as `Clinical practice' in semester two) are offered only in on-campus mode. Contact the course coordinator for further details.

Course structure

The course is conducted over one year full-time (two semesters) or two to four years (four to eight semesters) part-time.

Assessment differs for each unit being undertaken, but will include combinations of formal assignments, literature evaluations, case studies and clinical participation.
