MCM5233Operative surgery II(MED)
Mr A Saunder 6 points + Second semester + Clayton campus Synopsis: This subject will deal with the specialised techniques and approaching atypical situations of the surgical specialities of either joint replacement surgery, opthalmology, urology and prostate cancer, cardiac surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, transplant surgery or vascular surgery. Students will become proficient in details of the operative procedures and how to alter techniques to overcome unexpected pathology or complications. Assessment: One oral examination: (70%) + One written report about aspects of the operative management: (30%). The exam will be semi-structured and involve six 5-minute topic discussions. Continuous assessment by the student mentor and the supervising clinical consultant in terms of attitude, clinical skills, technical skills and communication skills will be assessed as either a Pass or Fail. |
