Professor S Marzuki & Dr W Lukito 6 points + Second semester + Clayton campus Synopsis: This subject considers the practical applications of our knowledge about molecular biology and our current understanding of the human genome. The area of molecular epidemiology is explored, using haematological disorders and the nutritional disorders that are associated with them, as examples. The molecular basis of these disorders is discussed, and the pattern of distribution of the disorders in different populations and cultures is explored. The importance of this information as regards improved patient management also is considered. Assessment: One written critical appraisal: (40%) + Three oral reviews + One written report: (60%). |
