MCM5231Pre-operative management(MED)
Mr A Saunder 6 points + Second semester + Clayton campus Synopsis: This subject deals with the clinical diagnosis and appropriate diagnostic investigation of patients prior to an operation. It also involves the assessment of co-morbidities that need appropriate management before a decision is taken to proceed with operative care or conservative management. Health issues that will decrease the anaesthetic risk or help in post-operative recovery will be identified. Assessment: One oral examination: (70%) + one written report: (30%). The exam will be semi-structured and involve six topic discussions. Continuous assessment by the student mentor and the supervising clinical consultant in terms of attitude, clinical skills, technical skills and communication skills will be assessed as either a Pass or Fail. |
