MCM5204Nutritional management(MED)
Professor M Walqvist & Dr A Kouris-Blazos 6 points + Second semester + Clayton campus Synopsis: This subject concentrates on developing skills in the practice of nutritional management. Using didactic tutorials, problem-based learning and clinical experience, participants will be provided with the knowledge for the nutritional management of macrovascular disease, disorders of body composition, eating disorders, alcohol excess, osteoporosis, diabetes mellitus, micronutrition and phytochemical deficiencies; micronutrient toxicity, cancer and inherited metabolic disorders. The tutorials and clinical sessions will aim to provide exposure to disorders that need nutritional management and the skills and up-to-date knowledge to give practical dietary advice to patients. Assessment: Supervised clinical sessions: (40%) + Two written assignments: (30%) + One oral presentation, accompanied by a review of the relevant literature: (30%) |
