MCM5241Paediatrics I: Paediatric infectious diseases(MED)
Professor R Doherty 6 points + Second semester + Clayton campus Synopsis: Infectious diseases remain a significant component of paediatric practice both as primary presenting problems and as secondary problems in children with other underlying diseases. The aim of this subject is to introduce clinicians to the broad practice of infectious diseases in paediatrics so that their management of clinical problems, use of antibiotics and understanding of public health, preventive and regional and geographic issues in paediatric infectious diseases are enhanced. Assessment: One written case study: (30%) + One oral group presentation: (25%) relating to recent international emerging paediatric infectious diseases and public health strategies that have been or may be invoked for its control + One oral examination: (45%). |
