MCM5201Cardiovascular medicine II(MED)
Associate Professor B McGrath 6 points + Second semester + Monash Medical Centre Synopsis: Evaluation of modern practice in cardiovascular medicine with a focus on clinical and diagnostic skill development, non-invasive monitoring techniques and physiological monitoring in the intensive care setting. Small group discussions, and clinical skills and evaluation techniques will be led by expert practitioners and clinical scientists. Student will refine their skills of history-taking and clinical examination of patients with cardiovascular diseases to an advanced level. They will be expected to undertake a critical appraisal of the utility and limitations of modern diagnostic techniques and will be introduced to newer research techniques for cardiovascular evaluation. Assessment: Oral presentation which includes five case summaries with a relevant literature review: (40%) + Clinical rounds: (30%) + One written clinical case study: (15%) + One written assignment: (15%) |
