MCM5200Cardiovascular medicine I(MED)
Associate Professor B McGrath 6 points + Second semester + Clayton campus Synopsis: This subject focuses on recent advances in our understanding of the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations and management strategies for cardiovascular disorders. Atherosclerosis, hypertension, acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral arterial and venous disorders and the major current trials in cardiovascular medicine are the topics to be considered. Expert practitioners and clinical scientists will lead small group discussions, lectures and demonstrations in this subject, and participants will be expected to examine and understand core literature, to refine their concepts of cardiovascular diseases. Assessment: Two written topic reviews (40%) + preparation and oral presentation of one hospital inpatient's clinical history + a review of the literature (30%) + one short answer examination (30%) |
