Prevention nutrition in clinical practice

Synopsis: This subject looks at specialist studies in preventive nutrition in clinical practice, theory and practice of nutrition promotion and primary prevention of disease in medical practice. Using didactic tutorials, problem-based learning, clinical sessions, fieldwork and group counselling skills, participants will be provided with the knowledge to prevent diet related disorders and promote wellness in their medical practice and local community. Fieldwork activities will culminate in the completion of a project defined to meet the specific learning needs of each health professional relevant to service delivery in preventive nutrition.

Assessment: One written field-based report: (40%) + One oral presentation: (20%) + One multiple choice and short answer examination: (40%). The reflective journal maintained throughout this subject will be submitted at the completion of the subject and assessed as either a Pass or Fail.
