MCM5207Nutrition and ageing(MED)
Dr A Klouris-Blazos & Professor B Workman 6 points + Second semester + Clayton campus Synopsis: The purpose of this subject is to provide medical practitioners with a greater understanding of the nutritional factors that are significant contributors to the morbidity and mortality associated with ageing. Problem-based learning, tutorials and field based activities will enable candidates to acquire the knowledge and skills required in identifying and assessing the nutritional status of ageing adults and implementing appropriate strategies in the nutritional management of this group. Candidates will develop counselling skills as well as competencies in developing nutritional programs in community and institutionalised care settings. Assessment: One written examination: (50%) + One case study: (25%) + One oral presentation: (25%) |
