Bachelor of Business and Commerce

Course code: 2224 + Gippsland campus + HECS fees applicable + International student fees: $1687.50 per unit (2001 fee) + Attendance optional

Aims

The Bachelor of Business and Commerce provides an international degree in business and commerce. The course is designed to provide maximum flexibility and to allow depth and breadth in the study of the major business and commerce discipline areas. Its structure provides the capacity to tailor applications and focus on different contexts and different environments while ensuring knowledge of the theory, principles and core elements in the relevant discipline areas.
Majors consisting of a sequence of eight units available at the Gippsland campus include accounting, business law, economics, electronic commerce, management and marketing. Students have the option of choosing a second major or combining their major with one or more professional specialisations, consisting of a sequence of four units.

Professional recognition

The Bachelor of Business and Commerce with an accounting major is recognised by both CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia as meeting the academic requirements for membership.

Entry requirements

Applicants will need one of the following:
(a) Satisfactorily completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), including English units 3 and 4 with a study score of at least 25, plus any two units from General Mathematics and/or Mathematical Methods at the unit 1 and 2 level. Please provide an ENTER statement with application, or
(b) Satisfactory completion of qualifications deemed to be equivalent to the VCE such as interstate Year 12 or International Baccalaureate, or completion of the TAFE Certificate IV or one year of an Advanced Diploma (formerly Associate Diploma).

Each application is assessed on a case-by-case basis. It is essential that units submitted for credit/exemption fit the philosophy and principles of this degree course of study. Units studied more than 10 years ago will not be considered for credit/exemption. The faculty's Credit Assessment and Tracking System (CATS) is a web-based record of credits that have been granted for students in the past. Please go to: http://credits.buseco.monash.edu.au/ and follow the instructions to look up studies that you have already completed to obtain a guide to the credits you may receive towards the Bachelor of Business and Commerce.
