Berwick and Peninsula: Dr Sandra Cockfield (Chief Examiner); Gippsland and OCDL: Mr Len Pullin 6 points + 2-hour lecture and 1-hour tutorial per week, Berwick, Gippsland, Peninsula + OCDL, approximately 12 hours per week + Prerequisite: MGW1010 or equivalent + Prohibition: MGG2323, MGX2341 Synopsis: This subject focuses on employment relations issues, mainly in the Australian context. It includes an overview of the economic, legal and social elements of the employment relationship and the management of commitment and discontent in the workplace; the role of the parties: workers, employers, their collective organisations and the state; the processes of regulation: conciliation and arbitration, individual contracts, enterprise bargaining, negotiation; employment practises: pay, employment, work organisation and skill formation; international influences on employment relations; equity and justice in the workplace.
