The study of adult learning involves:

  • contemporary, cutting-edge approaches to workplace and community education and development
  • examining adult learning theory and methods, workplace learning and development, program design and delivery, flexible learning and multimedia, and innovation and sustainability
  • improving adult learning outcomes and contributing to the development of individuals, organisations, industry, and local and global communities

Description

The study of early childhood and early childhood/primary education involves:

  • gaining a deep understanding of childhood development, educational theories and practice and how to involve children in engaging, innovative and purposeful learning in the early years of life
  • learning through supervised early childhood education professional experiences
  • becoming qualified as an early childhood educator for a range of child care and pre-school settings
  • becoming qualified to teach in primary schools as well as early childhood settings in the dual early childhood/primary course
  • gaining the knowledge and skills needed for employment in other children's services and specialist early childhood settings.

Requirements

Students in 4223 Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and 4224 Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood/Primary) complete the following units for years 1 to 3 in the education major, curriculum major, early childhood educational leadership, and professional experience sections.

The Master of Education is a generalist degree designed for those who want to advance their professional interests across a broad range of unit choices. Description

The study of sport and outdoor recreation involves:

  • developing knowledge in and passion for sport and outdoor recreation
  • exploring the relationships between physical activity, recreation and leisure, health and wellbeing, leadership and education, sustainability and sports and movement studies
  • analysing theories of sport and outdoor recreation
  • applying in-depth academic study through professional placements in coaching and instruction, leadership and programming, and sport education
  • learning through fieldwork placements in sport and outdoor education settings that focus on the employment and training needs in the expanding sport and outdoor recreation industries
  • classroom and fieldwork activities that take advantage of Monash's Health and Wellbeing Precinct at the Peninsula campus, offering excellent sporting and outdoor facilities on or near campus.
