Synopsis

This unit develops students' understanding of the key concepts and practical applications of curriculum, curriculum theory and curricular assessment and evaluation.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this unit students should be able to:

understand the basic principles of curriculum theory
understand how to develop curriculum material across learning areas and subjects
develop curriculum with and for diverse communities and learners
develop curriculum that promotes social justice for all, and particularly for disadvantaged student populations and school communities
understand and apply assessment and evaluation strategies to gauge the effectiveness of such curriculum
understand the role of external professionals and community representatives in broadening teachers' professional knowledge and practice.

Portfolio of task (2000 words equivalent, 50%)
Development of assessment tasks for cross-curriculum priority themes (2000 words equivalent, 50%)

Workload requirements
