Introduction to the faculty
The Faculty of Business and Economics offers its programs on the Berwick, Caulfield, Clayton, Gippsland and Peninsula campuses in Victoria, the Sunway campus near Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and the Monash South Africa campus near Johannesburg. The faculty has over 19,000 students enrolled in undergraduate degrees, masters degrees by both research and coursework, and the doctor of philosophy degree.
The Faculty of Business and Economics is accredited by the Brussels-based European Federation of Management Development to European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) standards and currently seeking accreditation to The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business Standards. Accreditation establishes Monash's Faculty of Business and Economics as one of the world's leading higher education institutions in management and business administration. At a program level the Faculty’s MBA program is internationally accredited by the London-based Association of MBAs (AMBA).
Monash Graduate School of Business - Faculty of Business and Economics
Created to serve as a focus for all the Monash graduate programs in business, the Monash Graduate School of Business (GSB) is a totally different kind of business school - combining excellence and innovation with diversity. Monash GSB programs include higher degrees by research - PhD and MPhil; specialist masters degrees in accounting, banking, business law, diplomacy and trade, economics, econometrics, finance, human resource management, management, marketing, public policy and management, risk management and work and employment relations. The GSB also offers a number of inter-faculty double degrees and is the home of the highly-ranked Monash MBA and the flexible and innovative Master of Business. Most coursework programs are offered on the Caulfield campus. Facilities on this campus include state of the art teaching and studying facilities, designated postgraduate lounges, full wireless connectivity, multiple IT labs, and leading edge theatrettes.

Coursework programs
Program structures
Coursework masters degrees and related graduate and postgraduate diplomas are offered across the full spectrum of business disciplines. Students who wish to exit their masters studies after completion of four or eight units may apply for an early exit with a graduate certificate (four units) or graduate diploma (eight units).
The executive certificate is designed to cater for managers who have significant experience but do not have a first degree. The executive certificate provides an entry point to masters degrees for students who obtain an average grade of credit or above.

Coursework discipline areas
Monash GSB offers a variety of programs to suit students from different backgrounds and with different aspirations. Most masters coursework degrees in the GSB comprise 12 or 16 units in the following disciplines: accounting, banking, business, business administration, business law, diplomacy and trade, economics, econometrics, finance, human resource management, management, marketing, public policy and management, risk management and work and employment relations.

The first digit indicates the year level at which the unit is available and the remaining digits indicate the unit number:
- 4xxx - Fourth-year-level units offered in honours and postgraduate degrees that assume prior knowledge of the discipline at the preceding levels and that build on knowledge gained in an undergraduate degree in a related discipline and relevant employment experience.
- 5xxx - Fifth-year-level units offered in those cumulative masters degrees that assume prior knowledge of the discipline at the preceding levels, and units offered in some other masters degrees that build on knowledge gained through previous study in a related discipline and relevant employment experience.
- 6xxx - Sixth-year level doctoral units that assume prior knowledge of the discipline at the preceding levels.
- 9xxx - Accelerated learning units offered in graduate courses that assume no prior knowledge of the discipline at a preceding level but building on knowledge and skills gained through previous study in another discipline area and/or relevant employment experience.
Professional recognition - Faculty of Business and Economics
The Faculty of Business and Economics offers both specialist and generalist degrees that enable graduates to satisfy educational requirements for professional registration or membership. During the course of their studies, students should be careful to ensure the units they take are those required for the profession of their choice. The following information provides details of the units required for selected professional registration or membership. Students granted credit are advised that each professional body reserves the right to reject an application for membership if the credit is not in accord with its guidelines.
Accounting
The faculty offers specially designed programs that enable candidates to satisfy educational requirements of CPA Australia (CPAA), The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and the National Institute of Accountants (NIA). The on-campus programs at the Caulfield campus are the Master of Professional Accounting, which is a pathway to associate membership of CPAA and the NIA and the Master of Business (Accounting) which is a pathway for advancement from associate membership to CPA status.

The following list of units satisfy the educational requirements of CPAA and the NIA. Students enrolled in the 12-unit Master of Professional Accounting or 16-unit Master of Professional Accounting (Advanced) must include all the units in their program. Candidates who do not hold an Australian bachelor degree or an overseas qualification deemed by Australian Educational International, National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) to be equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree must complete the 16-unit Master of Professional Accounting.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA): entry to the Chartered Accountants Program
The following list of units is accredited by the ICAA. Graduates who hold an Australian bachelor degree or an overseas qualification deemed by AEI-NOOSR to be equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree and complete successfully all the units will satisfy the educational requirements for admission to the Chartered Accountants Program. It should be noted that full membership of the ICAA requires completion of mentored work experience and the Chartered Accountants Program, which comprises four technical modules and one final integrative module.

Banking, finance and securities industries: membership of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA)
Graduates of the Master of Applied Finance and Master of Business (Banking and Finance) meet the educational components of the criteria for membership at the senior associate (SA Fin) level.
Membership of The Finance and Treasury Association Ltd
Graduates of the Master of Applied Finance and Master of Business (Banking and Finance) meet the education criteria for membership at Certified Finance and Treasury Professional (CFTP) level.
Management: affiliate status with the Australian Institute of Management (AIM)
Many of the postgraduate programs offered by the faculty satisfy the educational qualifications for affiliate status. Affiliates can advance to member within five years or less if they can meet AIM's requirement of proven management achievement.
Marketing: associate membership of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI)
Graduates who major in marketing will satisfy the educational requirements for admission as an associate member. Membership of AMI is graded into categories which reflect members' practical experience, professional achievements and formal education. Associate members are encouraged to upgrade their status as their career progresses.
Risk management: membership of the Risk Management Institution of Australasia (RMIA)
Master of Risk Management graduates who have five years of recognised work experience in area of risk management will satisfy the educational requirements for admission as a Member of RMIA.
