Course description

This double degree course allows students to qualify with both the Bachelor of Business (Management) and Bachelor of Business (Marketing) degrees.

This combined course is designed for students seeking a career in management or in the marketing industry. In addition to providing a core of marketing and management units, the course provides specialist study in key areas.

Course structure

Areas of study

Students must complete a major specialisation in both management and marketing.

Other studies may be drawn from any of the disciplines taught on the Caulfield campus by the Faculty of Business and Economics. These other studies can in some cases form a third major in a business discipline.

Up to six open electives may also be taken from other campuses or other Monash faculties.

Course requirements

The degree requirements are:

(a) completion of six compulsory common core units (36 points):

(b) outer core – completion of eight outer-core units (48 points), including the four compulsory units (24 points) listed below and a further four units (24 points) from the remaining units listed below:

(c) strand – the following 12 units (72 points) are compulsory and a complete a major specialisation in both management and marketing:

  • MKF3121 Marketing planning and implementation
  • MKF3131 Strategic marketing
  • MKF3461 Marketing communication
  • MKX3481 Logistics and fulfilment
  • (d) a total of 32 units (192 points) over a maximum of 10 years of study.

(e) a maximum of 13 first-year-level units (78 points).

(f) a minimum of eight third-year-level units (48 points), of which at least five (30 points) must be from those offered by the faculty on the campus delivering this program.

(g) an option to include a maximum of six units (36 points) in disciplines taught by other Monash faculties or from units offered on campuses other than the campus delivering this program.

(h) At least two non-compulsory units (12 points) must be outside the main field of study.

The following unit is excluded from this degree: MKF2331 (Retail promotion).

This degree with relevant units is recognised by the following legal entities:

  • Australian Institute of Management
  • Australian Marketing Institute
