Graduate Diploma of Business (Management)

The Graduate Diploma of Business (Management) is designed primarily for graduates who wish to extend their knowledge of management theory and practice. This eight-unit course provides an introduction to the functions of general management. Electives provide opportunities for candidates to specialise in global business, services management, organisational behaviour and change management practices.

Applicants require a pass degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution, or an executive certificate offered by this faculty completed with an average grade of credit or above. Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of four credit exemptions for units considered to be equivalent to particular units in the course of study. Credit is restricted to study completed in the last five years. Refer to the course director for further details.
This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Faculty of Business and Economics - Gippsland as to the 2003 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma of Business (Management) at the required standard may be eligible for admission to the Master of Business Management degree offered by off-campus learning, Master of Management degree offered by the Department of Management, Caulfield campus, or the MBA program offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics. In some instances, students may be eligible for admission to a masters degree by research.

Course structure

Normally, units are completed at a rate of two units in each of four successive semesters and each unit involves an average of 12 hours of study per week. Flexibility is ensured by permitting completion of two elective units in areas of professional focus.

There are six core units and two electives normally completed over two years of study.
