This section details the science discipline sequences (major or minor) offered by the School of Applied Sciences towards the Bachelor of Science, Gippsland. Some sequences and individual subjects are also offered by flexible delivery on the Berwick campus. Most subjects are also available by distance education (in some cases in alternative years). Further information can be found in the individual subject entries.
First-level biology studies provide a basis for subsequent studies in microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, emphasising medical and industrial applications.
This sequence has a focus on the chemistry of biological materials, instrumental techniques and industrial applications.
* COMPULSORY FOR MAJOR SEQUENCE.
This sequence provides a grounding in the mathematical techniques relevant to modelling and problem analysis, spanning continuous and discrete mathematics and both deterministic and stochastic modelling.
This minor sequence covers a range of data analysis approaches and techniques relevant to students of the biological, environmental and behavioural sciences.
This sequence covers the scientific basis for the conservation and management of natural resources.
or
This minor sequence covers physiological communication and function on the basis of first-level studies in cell biology and human biology.
This sequence in behavioural science spans the biological, social and cognitive aspects of the discipline.
Consult the Faculty of Science office for availability of psychology electives.
This sequence covers computer technology, programming and system development programming environments, with a range of more specialised options at third level.
* THESE SUBJECTS ARE COMPULSORY FOR A MAJOR SEQUENCE.
