CHM1616Chemistry for biology(SCI)
Mr R Lyall 6 points + First semester + Three 1-hour lectures and two hours of tutorial/laboratory sessions per week + Gippsland/Distance (home experiment kit option) + Prohibition: CHM1011 Synopsis: This is an introductory chemistry subject for students with little or no background in chemistry. It is particularly designed to enable the intending psychologist or environmental or biological scientist to understand the basic principles of chemistry as they apply to the physiological, biological and biochemical processes important to their chosen field of study. It also provides a suitable background for students who intend to continue their studies in chemistry. The teaching approach uses flexible delivery methods and places strong emphasis on relating theoretical concepts to practical applications. Assessment: Two assignments of approximately 1500 words: 30% + Practical work: 20% + Examination (3 hours): 50% |
