PSY1022Psychology 1B(SCI)
Mr Robert Whitechurch (Berwick), Mr David Goble (Caulfield/ Clayton), and Ms Carole Axton (Gippsland) 6 points + Three 1-hour lectures and a 2-hour laboratory class per week + Second semester + Berwick, Caulfield, Clayton, Gippsland, South Africa, distance + Distance students must complete a minimum of 12 hours on-campus weekend school laboratory work + Prohibitions: WEL1320, WEL1340, BHS1320, BHS1340, GSC1306, GSC1307, APY1910 and any first-level psychology subjects taught at Monash prior to 1998. Synopsis: Introduction to the discipline of psychology as a behavioural science. Topics include descriptive statistics and an introduction to inferential statistics, basic processes and principles of cognition, abnormal and social psychology. Laboratory classes enhance students' understanding of the lecture material and provide training in research techniques. Assessment: Laboratory work: 20% + Laboratory report: 30% + Examination (2 hours): 50% + Hurdle requirement: 75% attendance |
