PSY1011Psychology 1A(SCI)
Mr Robert Whitechurch (Berwick), Mr David Goble (Caulfield/ Clayton) and Ms Carole Axton (Gippsland) 6 points + Three 1-hour lectures and a 2-hour laboratory class per week + First semester + Berwick, Caulfield, Clayton, Gippsland, South Africa, distance + Distance students must complete a minimum of 12 hours on-campus weekend school laboratory work + Prohibitions: WEL1320, WEL1340, BHS1320, BHS1340, GSC1306, GSC1307, APY1910 and any first-level psychology subjects taught at Monash prior to 1998. Synopsis: Introduction to the discipline of psychology as a behavioural science. Topics include personality, the biological bases of behaviour, sensation and perception, an introduction to theories of learning and development, plus an introduction to the historical origins of the discipline. Laboratory classes enhance students0 understanding of the lecture material and provide training in research techniques. Assessment: Laboratory work: 20% + Essay: 30% + Examination (2 hours): 50% + Hurdle requirement: 75% attendance |
