Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Business and Information Technology*


General information

The double degree Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Business and Information Technology is of four years duration if taken full-time and provided all subjects are passed. The course permits students to specialise in one or more of the Faculty of Business and Economics areas of study and to undertake integrated studies of computer-based management systems. It enhances and provides niche employment opportunities for graduates of the Business and Economics and Information Technology faculties. It supplies Malaysian industry and government organisations with graduates skilled and knowledgeable in various business areas and in using information technology in a business environment.

Entry requirements

The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or equivalent. Mathematics at GCE O level, Year 11 or equivalent. One of: a test score of C or better in the General Paper (English) in the GCE A level examinations or equivalent; a grade of C or better in English in the GCE O level examination; VCE units 3 and 4 in English with a study score of at least 25; IELTS 6.0 with the additional requirement of achieving a score of 6.0 or above in each individual band; TOEFL 580 (computer-based test 237) and TWE 5; English is the first language; English was the language of instruction in secondary and/or tertiary studies.

Course structure

Students will be required to complete 192 credit points to be awarded the Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Business and Information Technology as follows:
(a) Completion of the following business and commerce subjects with a total credit value of 108 points meeting the following requirements:
(i) Six core introductory subjects:

(ii) No more than 14 subjects (no more than 84 points) at first-year level.
(iii) A major of at least eight subjects (at least 48 points), which includes at least two subjects at each of second and third-year levels. One of the six core introductory subjects can be included in the eight subjects of the major provided it is in the relevant field of study.
(iv) At least four third-year-level business and commerce subjects (at least 24 points of third-year-level business and commerce subjects).
(b) Completion of core business systems subjects with a total value of 84 points as follows:

If either AFW2051 or AFW2631 is included, a subject approved by the course coordinator must replace BUS3030. BUS1100 may not be included.
(c) In accordance with the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 of Malaysia, three subjects, taken for credit or not for credit, as follows:
