Programming for business applications

6 points + Two 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial per week + First semester, Clayton + First semester , Malaysia + First semester, South Africa + Prohibitions: RDT1301, SFT1122

Synopsis: At the completion of this subject students should be able to use a current popular PC business application development environment to develop complete applications and ActiveX components that: create and manipulate databases and their data, present multiple document interfaces, use the Windows clipboard, yield the CPU, function in a internet/intranet environment and call DLL and API routines. Object orientation in the context of business applications is also discussed. A clean logical programming style that minimises errors is demonstrated.

Assessment: Tutorial and assignments: 30% + Examination (2 hours): 70% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the subject.
