Ms Wendy Webber (Chief examiner); Peninsula: Dr Sandra Cockfield; Malaysia: Ms Karthyeni Purushothaman; Berwick: Ms Jan Schapper; South Africa: Ms Yvonne Saini 6 points + Two 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial per week + Berwick, Peninsula, Malaysia, first and second semester + Gippsland, South Africa, first semester + Distance, approximately 12 hours per week + First semester + Prohibition: MGB1302, MGG1302, MGW1302, MGX1010, MGX1300 Synopsis: On completion of this subject students should have an understanding of: the nature of managerial work in organisations; theories of management and their historical development; the management of people as individuals and groups; the importance of leadership and motivation; the principles by which change is introduced into organisations; the key factors in the organisation's environment that impact on how managers and organisations work.
