6 points + 3 hours per week + Distance, approximately 12 hours per week, first and summer semester + Berwick, Gippsland, Peninsula, Malaysia, South Africa, first semester + Prerequisites: AFW1001 or AFW1002 and ETW1000 or ETX1100 or ETW1102

Synopsis: Corporate modelling theory; models as decision support tools; models and user types0 uses of models; types and characteristics of models; benefits and limitations of models; spreadsheets and financial modelling systems. Development of models including reasons for choosing a spread sheet; package comparisons; effective spread sheet model design; planning and development of various financial models using an industry standard spread sheet; auditing existing spreadsheet models; advanced modelling techniques using spreadsheets /macros0.

Assessment: Report writing assignment/essay: 20% + Examination (3 hours): 80%
