The Centre for Graduate Studies in Clinical Nursing (MMC Clayton) offers a Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Children) in partnership with the Southern Health Care Network. This course is designed to respond to the need within industry for specialist nurses who are able to care for the ill child and family. An extensive and diverse range of clinical experience is offered, incorporating children of varying age, with a wide range of health care needs and levels of acuity, within the hospital and the community.

Aims

This course aims to provide registered nurses with the in-depth knowledge and specialist skills required to provide comprehensive care for the ill child and family in a variety of children's health care environments.

Course outline

Students will be required to undertake three core subjects and five specialist subjects, for a total of eight subjects. Students may enrol full-time and complete the course in one year. Alternatively, in a part-time enrolment, students will normally complete the course in two years. Subjects are scheduled in a manner which enables the students to undertake part-time employment.
