Tourism studies covers the behaviour and motivations of tourists, the businesses that service the tourists and the economic, social and environmental impacts of tourism. Course objectivesThis course provides major studies in the theory, practice, technology and research techniques of mass communications together with studies in the business disciplines of tourism such as marketing, management and law, planning development and evaluation. Course structureStudents must complete 96 points in the Bachelor of Communication component and 96 points in the Bachelor of Tourism component. Areas of studyStudents complete a compulsory major in communications. The other arts disciplines offered at Berwick include behavioural studies, international studies, journalism, psychology and visual culture. Alternatively, students select a sequence of arts units taught at one of the other campuses of the university. Students who opt for this alternative should note that it will involve travelling to another campus to attend lectures, and close attention will need to be paid to the lecture timetable.
