Graduate Diploma in Workplace and Employee Relations

Course description

This course develops practitioner skills on a sound analytical and conceptual basis. It is ideally suited for industrial relations and human resources practitioners and for managers. It focuses upon the workplace while making the necessary connections with the broader institutional and legal framework.

Entry requirements

Applicants need to have:

  • completed a bachelors degree from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent qualification as determined by faculty board with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience, or
  • obtained an average grade of credit (minimum of 60%) or above in an executive certificate offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Course structure

Students must complete eight core units (48 points) from the following list:

  • BTX9070 Labour relations law
  • MGX5080 Workplace negotiations
  • MGX5090 Strategic industrial and workplace relations management
  • MGX5160 Advocacy and bargaining
  • MGX9180 Employee relations
  • MGX9220 Industrial and workplace relations
  • MGX9600 Managing people and organisations
  • MGX9850 Human resource management

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Workplace and Employee Relations may apply for admission to the Master of Workplace and Employee Relations and would be eligible for advanced standing for eight units.
