The course has been designed for persons who are working, or intending to work,
in any area of industrial relations, management, HRM or trade union activities.
The course focuses upon the workplace aspects of industrial and employee
relations, and links industrial relations and employee management practices
with the broader issues of economic and labour market policy. The institutional
and legal framework for industrial and employee relations is also covered in
detail.
Applicants need to have completed either an honours degree in a cognate
discipline or the Graduate Diploma in Industrial and Employee Relations with a
credit average or above or an equivalent qualification from a recognised
tertiary institution. Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of four credit
exemptions for subjects considered to be equivalent to particular subjects in
the course of study. Subjects completed as part of a bachelors degree would not
normally qualify for exemption. Refer to the course coordinator for further

This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should refer to the faculty office,
Clayton, as to the 2000 course fees. Course fees are set and reviewed annually
and are therefore subject to change.
A
total of 12 coursework subjects must be completed in the Graduate Diploma and
Masters levels, of which six must be level 5000 subjects. The selection and
number of subjects will vary according to previous qualifications of candidates
and must be determined in conjunction with the course coordinator.
