The

methodology and principles of second language acquisition.
The
major objectives of the Master of Education (LOTE) pathway are to provide
students with knowledge and understanding of:
- reflective practices such as diary/journal keeping and action research
thus allowing teachers of languages other than English to evaluate their
approach to the teaching and learning of a second language in a classroom
environment;
- the second language acquisition theories underlying good classroom
practice and the implications of these theories and those concerning the nature
of language and their influence on classroom second language teaching and
learning;
- a range of techniques for planning, measuring and recording progress in
the development of second language proficiency of students in a variety of
classroom environments;
- the need to establish a network of teachers of languages other than
English which will provide possibilities of exchange visits to each others'
classes, exchange of ideas, and support for trialling a variety of strategies
for differentiated second language teaching and learning.
Candidates
