Professional recognition of courses - Faculty of Engineering

Australian accreditation

The following courses are accredited for the purpose of admission to membership of Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and associated double degree courses at all campuses

International accreditation

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) courses offered in Malaysia are also accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Malaysia to comply with Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) requirements. The EAC comprises representatives from the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, MQA and Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) Malaysia. Graduates of a Malaysian-accredited or BEM internationally-recognised engineering program satisfy the minimum academic requirements for registration as a graduate engineer with BEM. This registration also allows graduates to be recognised in many other countries under the Washington Accord of the International Engineering Alliance.

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (UK) has accredited the following as equivalent to the MEng degree from a recognised UK university:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in the field of chemical engineering
  • Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in the field of chemical engineering
  • Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in the field of chemical engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in the field of chemical engineering and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science.
