Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Sport and Outdoor Recreation

When students take the Bachelor of Business and Commerce degree and the Bachelor of Sport and Outdoor Recreation degree in combination, they are able to complete both courses in four years of full-time study with overload of six points in year 3 and year 4. The major aim of this double-degree program is to foster the development of a confident and competent professional, combining knowledge and skills from the fields of business, sport and outdoor recreation. Graduates of the program will have qualifications which enable them to enter the sport and outdoor recreation and tourism industries supported by a sound knowledge of business/commerce. Opportunities also exist for further study.

Admission requirements

Applicants must have satisfactorily completed the VCE or its equivalent including: units 1 and 2 - any two units from General Mathematics and/or Mathematical Methods; units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in English (any).

Course structure

To receive the awards of the Bachelor of Business and Commerce and the Bachelor of Sport and Outdoor Recreation, a candidate must successfully complete units totalling 204 points, consisting of the following:

  1. Studies in business/commerce (108 points) chosen from units offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics (Gippsland), which must include:

    1. the following six compulsory introductory six-point units, one in each of the following business disciplines:

    2. completion of a business major sequence of at least 48 points (eight units), including at least 12 points at each of second and third levels. (One core unit from part (i) may form part of the 48 points requirement);

    3. completion of at least 48 points of business units beyond first level, including at least 24 points at third level (the business major sequence meets part of this requirement).

  2. Studies in education (96 points) chosen from the Faculty of Education, which must follow the course outline as set out below.

Course length/workload required

This course consists of four years of full-time study or equivalent part time study taken on-campus. To complete the course in four years, students will need to maintain overload in years three and four of the business/commerce component. The expected number of hours per week for a full-time student is 48.
