Risk Management and Emergency Response (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon completion of this unit students will have acquired a working knowledge of the legal requirements in the conduct of sport and outdoor recreation; sound injury prevention philosophy and techniques; practical ability in first aid in the outdoors; management tools in the identification, assessment, control and mitigation of program liability and risk; specific case knowledge of local and international outdoor pursuit liability and risk management.

Assessment: Journal and assignment (2000 words): 50% + Class test: 50% + Satisfactory participation and demonstration of first aid and injury treatment

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week

Prerequisites: EDF1604 or approved equivalent
