The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Inclusive and Special Education) is designed for teachers, educational administrators, and other health and human resource professionals who wish to continue postgraduate studies in special education and to further assist them in understanding of the processes of teaching and learning in both ´ settings.
To be eligible for admission to the course, applicants must hold either an approved three-year bachelors degree and an approved fourth year of study, or an approved four-year bachelors degree, or have qualifications or experience considered by the faculty board to be equivalent to, or a satisfactory substitute for, the above awards.
The course consists of 48 credit points of study. Students will complete the following three core 12-point units plus one elective:
* EDF6001 is an introductory
research methods unit designed to prepare students to make decisions about the
design and development of their future research thesis studies.
** EDF6003 is designed to introduce students to a range of searching tools and
using the research of others. It focuses on literature searching and reviewing
processes and is directly related to student workplace issues. It is designed
to prepare students for the professional project.

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Inclusive and Special Education) may complete a masters degree by undertaking up to a further two units (including a research core unit).
The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Inclusive and Special Education) requires a minimum of at least one year of full-time study and no more than three years of part-time study. Each of the units is one semester in length. The expected number of hours per week for a part-time student is 24.
