Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this unit students should be able to identify the role that policy and research literature plays in the life of organisations; use a range of skills in critically reading and evaluating research; access research that is relevant to their professional lives; identify the implications of the research for professional thinking and practice; write about research for specific purposes and audiences.

Assessment: Assignment 1: This assignment has three parts: 1. Identification and description of a work-based problem or issue; 2. An outline of the strategies to be used in gathering information for a literature search focusing on the specific work-based problem/issue; 3. A poster presentation incorporating material from parts 1. & 2. (2500 words) (30%) + Assignment 2: An essay reviewing the literature on a work-based problem or issue nominated by each student. (5500 words) 60%
