Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Business and Information Technology


General information

Course code: 3161 + Course abbreviation: BBusCom/BBusIT + Malaysia campus + Full-time

The double degree Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Business and Information Technology may be completed in four years of full-time study. The course permits students to specialise in one or more of the Faculty of Business and Economics areas of study and to undertake integrated studies of computer-based management systems. It enhances and provides niche employment opportunities for graduates of the Business and Economics and Information Technology faculties. It supplies Malaysian industry and government organisations with graduates skilled and knowledgeable in various business areas and in using information technology in a business environment.

Entry requirements

GCE A level: 18 points (two or three units); Hong Kong A level: 16 points (two or three units); OAC: 75 per cent; STPM: 18 points (two or three units); Sri Lankan A level: 22 points (two or three units); Australian Year 12: 85 ENTER; MUFY: 265; IB: 26.
Mathematics: GCE O level; Year 11 or equivalent.
English: TOEFL 580 and TWE 5 or computer-based TOEFL score of 237 with an Essay Rating (ER) of 5; IELTS 6.0 with a score of at least 6 for each individual band; or GCE A level with a grade of C or above; English is the first language; English was the language of instruction in secondary and/or tertiary studies.

Course structure

Students will be required to complete 192 credit points to be awarded the Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Business and Information Technology as follows:
(a) Completion of the following business and commerce units with a total credit value of 108 points meeting the following requirements:
(i) Six core introductory units:

(ii) No more than 14 units (no more than 84 points) at first-year level.
(iii) A major of at least eight units (at least 48 points), which includes at least two units at each of second and third-year levels. One of the six core introductory units can be included in the eight units of the major provided it is in the relevant field of study.
(iv) At least four third-year-level business and commerce units (at least 24 points of third-year-level business and commerce units).
(b) Completion of 14 core business systems units with a total value of 84 points as follows:

If either AFW2051 or AFW2631 is included, a unit approved by the course coordinator must replace BUS3030. BUS1100 may not be included.
