This course, offered by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, assists clinicians and public health professionals to become familiar with clinical research methodology and upgrade their skills in epidemiology. The course may be completed in one year full-time or over two years part-time. This degree provides a detailed understanding of the units of epidemiology and biostatistics to a level that enables critical and detailed appraisal of epidemiological literature and the conduct of projects requiring epidemiological and biostatistical expertise. The course articulates with the Master of Clinical Epidemiology or the Master of Public Health.
Applicants must have a medical degree, a bachelors degree with honours or graduate diploma, or a three-year degree with at least two years relevant professional experience in a health-related field. The department will individually assess applications from students without a three-year degree but with extensive relevant professional experience. In such instances, the department may require completion of the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Trials before enrolling in the graduate diploma.
This course is comprised of four core units and four elective units.
Assessment includes written assignments and examinations.
