Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Laws (BEd/LLB)

This double degree will extend the range of skills of graduates seeking employment in legal practice and other fields of the law; and for graduates who may wish to seek employment as teachers the course will equip them to teach Legal Studies in secondary schools and a second teaching subject.

Admission requirements

Applicants must have satisfactorily completed the VCE or its equivalent, with a study score of at least 25 in English units 3 & 4, and attain an ENTER score at Year 12 which is sufficient for entry to the BEd/LLB degree.

Course structure

To receive the awards of Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Laws (BEd/LLB), a candidate for the double degree must successfully complete the following:
* A major study (Law) and minor study in Arts or Science or Commerce which satisfy the requirements for the study of two teaching methods. These are the requirements for employment laid down by the Victorian Department of Education and non-government authorities.
* A series of subjects relating to the theory and practice of education, teaching and curriculum. Practicum subjects are also included.
* Progressively over the course students will be completing more of the education component, until the final year which will be entirely education, including an extended teaching practicum. This practicum is a program of field visits to different educational sites including structured teaching experience. Students will be required to complete projects related to their field visits. The visits are an integrated part of work in the Bachelor of Education program. Opportunities also exist for further study.
