Perspectives on teaching

Synopsis: This subject examines a range of perspectives on teaching. Through lectures, fieldwork in schools or "other settings (ie, preschools)" and study of various writings and views of "teaching" across the sites of Home and Society, Schools and Classroom, the subjects as students to appreciate the elements of teaching in different sites and circumstances. Recognition and understanding of various models, approaches and elements of teaching will be examined, discussed and critiqued.

Assessment: Clayton students (reading assignment, 30%, teaching portfolio, 30%, fieldwork written report of 1500 words, 30%, contribution to class discussion, 10%, oral report, 10%): 100% + Peninsula students (media analysis of 1000 words, 20%, teaching portfolio of 2000 words, 40%, tutorial tasks & portfolio of 2000 words, 40%): 100% + Gippsland students (essay of 1200 words, 40%, field Work report, 20%, examination, 40%): 100%
