Synopsis: An introduction to the psychology of learning as a framework for interpreting educational experiences. Students will explore learning situations, the types of knowledge that are learned, and the nature of and approaches to learning that are used in these situations. Emphasis will be placed on relating learning principles to learning in other first-year subjects.
Assessment: Clayton students (field work report of 2000 words, 40%, oral report, 10%, case of learning - 750-1000 words, 40%, contribution to workshop group, 10%): 100% + Peninsula students (portfolio of tasks - 1st submission of 2000 words, 40%, portfolio of tasks - 2nd submission of 3000 words, 60%): 100% + Gippsland students (2 assignments, 20%, 50%, and end-of-semester examination, 30%): 100%
