This
pathway is designed primarily to meet the needs and interests of educational
administrators, teachers, academics, educational services providers and student
support staff engaged in international education at all levels of education and
staff training officers who are interested in exploring the
internationalisation of education in depth.
The
objectives of the international education pathway are to provide students with
knowledge and understanding of:
- the impact of globalisation and new information technologies on culture,
economy and educational provision;
- the pedagogical, ethical and administrative issues involved in providing
education across national and cultural boundaries;
- the requirements needed to analyse educational provision in an
international setting and devise culturally-sensitive approaches to marketing
and delivering international programs.

Students who are able to take subjects on-campus may also apply
to take relevant Masters level subjects offered by the university. Courses
offered by the Faculty of Education, Monash Asia Institute and Faculty of
Business and Commerce may be considered. Students interested in the research
project option are strongly advised to take GED0801 in addition to the four
core subjects.
The
project, of approximately 20,000 words, must focus on a topic relevant to
international education. Students intending to enrol in the project must
complete an appropriate research methodology subject.
