Graduate Certificate in Workplace and Industrial Relations

Course description

This course develops practitioner skills on a sound analytical and conceptual basis. It is ideally suited for industrial relations and human resources practitioners and for managers. It focuses upon the workplace whilst making the necessary connections with the broader institutional and legal framework.

Credit for prior studies

Candidates may be eligible for credit for a maximum of one unit (6 points) if previous study is considered to be equivalent to particular units in the course of study. Credit is restricted to study undertaken in the last five years and must be approved by the program manager.

Course structure

Students must complete four units (24 points) as follows:

(a) three core units (18 points):

  • BTX9070 Labour relations law
  • MGX9600 Managing people and organisations
  • MGX9850 Human resource management

(b) one of the following units (6 points):

  • MGX9180 Employee relations
  • MGX9220 Industrial and workplace relations

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Workplace and Industrial Relations may apply for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Workplace and Industrial Relations or Master of Workplace and Industrial Relations and would be eligible for credit for four units.
