Graduate Certificate of Business (Management)

Course description

This course provides an introduction to the functions of business management. Case studies and business applications give students insights into the interdependent and dynamic nature of managerial work.

Credit for prior studies

Candidates may be eligible for credit for a maximum of one unit (6 points) if previous study is considered to be equivalent to particular units in the course of study. Credit is restricted to study undertaken in the last five years and must be approved by the program manager.

Course structure

(a) Students must complete one unit (6 points):

  • MGG9370 Management theory and practice (compulsory)

(b) Students must complete one unit (6 points) from the following:

(c) Students must complete two elective units (12 points) from graduate units taught by the Department of Management, other departments in the Faculty of Business and Economics, or other faculties of the university.

It is recommended that students consult with the course director to ensure their elective units form a coherent study program.

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate of Business (Management) may apply for admission to the Graduate Diploma of Business (Management) and Master of Business Management.

Students should be aware of the compulsory unit requirements of the Graduate Diploma of Business (Management) and Master of Business Management should future articulation into either course be a consideration.
