Synopsis

Introduction to the environment, parties and processes involved in Australian industrial relations. The unit aims to create an understanding of industrial relations at the macro level and to develop analytical skills appropriate to solving industrial relations problems. Topics covered include employer associations and management, theories of unionism, conciliation and arbitration, enterprise bargaining, grievance and disciplinary procedures, wages policy, and legislative reform of industrial relations.
