Course description

This course is designed for students with a degree in a field other than accounting who wish to obtain a sound introduction to accounting concepts and procedures. It allows students to take a substantial number, but not all, of the units needed to meet the academic requirements for admission as an associate member of CPA Australia program and entry to the CA program of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. As such, it suits potential students who already meet some of the requirements of these professional bodies.

Course structure

Students must complete eight units (48 points) from the following list:

• AFX5621 Auditing and assurance
• AFX5631 Financial accounting 2
• AFX9500 Introductory accounting and financial information systems 1
• AFX9510 Quantitative methods
• AFX9521 Introductory accounting and financial information systems 2
• AFX9641 Business finance
• BTX4541 Corporations law and trusts
• BTX5651 Taxation law
• BTX9020 Business law
• ECF9530 Economics

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Accounting may apply for admission to the Master of Practising Accounting or Master of Professional Accounting.
