Off-Campus Learning Guide 2005

Graduate Diploma in Health Informatics

Course code 3405 + Off-campus (Monash Institute of Health Services Research, Centre of Medical Informatics, Monash Medical Centre, Clayton) + Full-fee-paying course: $TBC (Australian residents); $15,000 (international students)

The course is designed to meet the educational needs of health professionals who need to upgrade their knowledge and understanding of the rapidly changing issues of information technology in the health arena.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have completed the Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics. Preference will be given to applicants who are currently employed in a senior position in a health-related area.

Advanced standing for previous studies

Credit may be granted for work previously completed in the Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics. All cases will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Course structure

The course, undertaken full-time over one year or part-time over two years, comprises five core units:

Assessment

Assessment consists of essays, assignments, case study work and threaded discussion.

Professional recognition

Australian candidates enrolled in the diploma will be eligible for an appropriate number of points for vocational registration purposes.
