Off-Campus Learning Guide 2005

Graduate Diploma in Forensic Pathology

Course code: 2314 * Off-campus (year 1), on-campus (year 2) (Department of Forensic Medicine, Southbank) * Full-fee-paying course: $60,000 (available only to international students).

This course is aimed at students from developing countries and from countries without the required academic and operational resources to train forensic pathologists.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a recognised undergraduate medical qualification, which is equivalent to the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, with basic training in pathology and a demonstrated commitment in pursuing a career in forensic pathology.
Special note: Students applying for this course should be pursuing a career in forensic pathology, for example be employed by a forensic medical institution. The department will only take four to six students every two years.

Course structure

This is a two-year part-time course comprising seven compulsory units. Year 1 is offered in the off-campus learning mode, with students completing year 2 on-campus at the Department of Forensic Medicine, Southbank.

Assessment

A range of assessment methods will be used including practical written and oral examinations, assignments, casebooks and oral presentations.
