Synopsis:
Objectives: On completion of this subject, the student will be expected to: 1. Describe the essential components to be considered when performing a comprehensive women's health assessment 2. Discuss the principles of primary health care in the promotion of health and wellness with diverse groups of women experiencing treatment for a range of women's health problems 3. Demonstrate knowledge of the common health problems women may experience throughout various life stages 4. Display an understanding of the physical and psychological aspects associated with selected women's health problems 5. Identify the range of responses a woman may experience when confronted with a body altering health problem 6. Explore strategies to promote women's participation in informed decision making and taking responsibility for self care 7. Demonstrate an understanding of the need for reflective practice and the implementation of evidence informed care in private patients 8. Demonstrate midwifery competency based upon the ACMI Competency Standards
