The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Music Education) course is designed to provide teachers with an understanding of a range of issues and of research as it relates to music education.

The course consists of 48 credit points of study. Students will complete four 12-point units (two specialist elective units and two general electives):

Students are to choose any one or two postgraduate units relevant to their course as approved by the course coordinator.

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Music Education) may complete a masters degree by undertaking up to a further two units (including a Research core unit) respectively.
Assessment is by way of a combination of tasks, which may include examinations, assignments and other set tasks.
The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Music Education) requires a minimum of at least one year of full-time study and no more than three years of part-time study. Each of the units is one semester in length. The expected number of hours per week for a part-time student is 24.
Applicants contemplating admission to this course may seek formal credit or recognition of prior learning. Applicants should apply for credit/RPL prior to enrolment. The Faculty of Education considers each application on its merit within the context of the faculty guidelines on credit transfer.
