The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Literacy Studies) is designed for teachers and educators who wish to increase their knowledge of literacy issues particularly as they relate to the early and middle years.

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Literacy Studies) may complete a masters degree by undertaking up to a further two units (including a research core unit) respectively.
Assessment is by way of a combination of tasks, which may include examinations, assignments and other set tasks.
The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Literacy Studies) requires a minimum of at least one year of full-time study and no more than three years of part-time study. Each of the units is of one semester in length. The expected number of hours per week for a part-time student is 24.
Applicants contemplating admission to this course may seek formal credit or recognition of prior learning. Students who are trained Reading Recovery teachers may seek credit of one unit (12 credit points) toward the award of the postgraduate diploma. Applicants should apply for credit/RPL prior to enrolment. The Faculty of Education considers each application on its merit within the context of the faculty guidelines on credit transfer.
